Revealed: Former Chelsea Star Was On The Brink to Sign For Liverpool

Damien Duff has revealed that he has been on the brink to sign for Liverpool and Manchester United.

After a spell with Shamrock Rovers two years ago the 38-year-old winger has retired from professional football.
The former Republic of Ireland star is currently a first-team coach at Shamrock Rovers.
Duff appeared has joined Chelsea in a deal worth £17m from Blackburn back in 2003.
But he says he could quite easily end up with signing for Man Utd or Liverpool.
Duff told Second Captains: “I met [former United boss Sir Alex Ferguson] a long time ago. I was just a nervous wreck – they were my club obviously before I was at Chelsea.
“I was at Blackburn, and I wanted to go there, but it didn’t materialise. I think my fee was £15m and I ended up going for £17m. It’s a lot of money, and it didn’t quite happen. [I] nearly went to Liverpool, didn’t quite happen.
“I always supported then who I played for, supported Blackburn, supported Chelsea, but it’s the only kind of when I retired I have realised, ‘My God I just love Man United’.
The former Chelsea star has won two Premier League titles, one League Cup and one Community Shield at Stamford Bridge stadium, before leaving them for Newcastle United in 2006, after three years at St James Park Duff decided to sign for Fulham.
