“It makes me proud” – Liverpool star sends important message to fans

Sadio Mane has issued an emotional thank you to Liverpool fans after the attacker underwent surgery to correct a knee problem.

The Liverpool star is out for the rest of the season after damaging the meniscus in his left knee while playing against Everton.
Mane has enjoyed a wonderful debut season at Liverpool and will be a huge miss for the Reds as they battle to keep hold of a Champions League place between now and the end of the season.
The Senegal international is expected to return to training in July and wanted to express his thanks to all the fans who have sent him messages.

‘It’s great that I have received so many encouraging messages from fans around the world, particularly on social media,’ Mane told the club website.

‘It makes me proud and gives me so much power that so many supporters of Liverpool FC and Senegal give me such great support.
‘I’d like to say thank you to everyone.
‘I will give my very best after yesterday’s successful surgery to be back on the pitch as soon as possible and be even better than before.’
Mane will recover for at least two months, but barring any set-backs, the winger should return in time for pre-season in July.
Liverpool still have a grip on third place in the Premier League and were boosted by Arsenal losing to Crystal Palace on Monday night.
The Reds sit six points ahead of Manchester United in fifth, but the Red Devils do have two games in hand over Liverpool.
