Liverpool Can Now Get 19-goals/assists Star Signing Done for Cheap

Liverpool and Manchester United are interested in signing Real Madrid playmaker James Rodriguez, according to reports

The Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has told Sky Sports that James could be lured for a fee of just 35 million euros, as the former Monaco and Porto star has been in the starting eleven just 11 times this season, scoring 13 goals and making six assists.

“Real Madrid want to sell him and about €35m would do it.”

“All the options remain on the table—Manchester United and Liverpool want him—but I just think United have the edge if it comes down to those two clubs,” said Balague.

“Jorge Mendes is his agent. But Italy is an option, too. The only guaranteed thing at this stage is Real Madrid want him to go, and he is considering his options.”

The Sunday Mirror previously reported that the Anfield club are back in the race to sign Rodriguez following new reports the Colombia international has ”fallen out” with Real boss Zinedine Zidane.

Philippe Coutinho has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona and it seems Jurgen Klopp’s side believe they can sign James if they qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

The Merseyside giants paid 34 million pounds (BBC) to hire the services of Senegalese star Sadio Mane, who is probably going to miss the rest of the campaign.  Liverpool have suffered in the absence of Mane and they need more quality and depth in the attacking third. Someone like Real Madrid star will largely improve the German’s squad.

The dilemma is that Manchester United will have the edge to sign Rodriguez because his agent, Jorge Mendes, is also the representative of Jose Mourinho.

If the creative Mo.10 does favour the Red Devils, it’d be fascinating to see how a manager like Mourinho would cater for the midfielder. The Colombian isn’t combative or aggressive off the ball, although he’s versatile enough to play behind a striker or off either flank; the prospect of him linking up with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Paul Pogba is a tantalising one.
