Arsene Wenger is determined to reach an agreement for top Premier League tackler

Arsenal and Manchester United are planning a big-money summer swoop for Everton anchorman Idrissa Gueye, according to reports

The Senegal international only joined the Toffees last summer for a reported £9 million and has been one of the top performers for Ronal Koeman’s side.

And Liverpool Echo claim that after starring at Goodison Park the dynamic midfielder has attracted the attention of the Red Devils and the Gunners.

However, the Echo adds, Arsene Wenger’s side may be shot down in a battle with United for the 27-year-old enforcer’s signature.

“Of course, it’s a thrill to face the big teams like Manchester United,” Everton ace said when asked if he had one day hoped of donning the famous red. “Obviously [dreaming of playing for United] is something I said at the time.”

Despite Chelsea star N’golo Kante’s brilliance this season, the former Lille star has him beaten in one particular department, having made more tackles than any other Premier League player in 2016-17, according to Sky Sports News HQ:

Gueye, in the England’s top flight, created 14 chances, registered one assist and completed 1036 passes with a pass accuracy of 85%, of which 70% were forward passes.

The Senegalese midfielder is under contract at Everton until 2020, which means he’d likely cost interested parties a pretty penny.
