Man Utd Flop Could Replace €123m Chelsea Star

Manchester United loanee Adnan Januzaj has a chance to replace Eden Hazard in the Belgium team, as Chelsea attacker suffers from injury.

Hazard missed Saturday’s win over Stoke City with a calf injury and will not recover in time to face Greece or Russia for his country, manager Roberto Martinez confirmed.

“Eden’s absence is obviously a big blow, but it will be interesting to see how we deal with it,” the ex-Everton boss told reporters at a news conference.

“Eden suffered a calf injury the day before the game against Stoke. It does not appear to be too bad based on the information Chelsea gave us. Eden came to Belgium on Monday, but he will not remain with the group.

“Of course, this will be a disappointment for him. He is a very professional captain. But injuries are part of the game. A big test awaits without Eden.”

Januzaj, meanwhile, also hopes for a recall to his national team.

“It’s nice to hear comments from Roberto Martinez like that. It gives you confidence, – the 22-year-old said.

“I know Belgium are watching me. They watch every single player. I know that.

“Me, my game is to show the people what I can do and hopefully play for the national team.”

The €123m-rated Chelsea ace has been excellent for Antonio Conte’s man this season – has been directly involved in 15 Premier League goals – and will definitely be a miss for Martinez’ side.

However, recalling Januzaj might have a sense for the Belgian Devils, as he has been a regular for Sunderland since his return from injury in late December and he has found a bit of form in a red-and-white shirt of late – even if he is still dogged by inconsistency.

Belgium top Group H with 12 points from four games, two points clear of Greece.
