Chelsea Lead Premier League Rivals in the Race For €60m Star

Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko favours a move to Chelsea despite interest from another top English clubs Manchester United and Arsenal, according to reports

The former Rennes man, is in high demand after becoming a key player for Leonardo Jardim’s Ligue 1 title chasers and the Stamford Bridge club are believed to have put the wheels in motion over a move for Bakayoko and believe they are in pole position to sign the midfielder.

French news outlet Le Parisien (via GFFN) has recently reported, that Bakayoko has snubbed the chance to extend his current contract amid speculation over his future. While the Sun added that the Gunner and the Red Devils both sent scouts to watch Bakayoko in action this week.

Jose Mourinho’s Reds are expected to enjoy a productive transfer window in the summer and are keeping tabs on the highly-rated defensive midfielder to partner him with compatriot Paul Pogba and has also been linked with Monaco teammate Kylian Mbappe.

Arsene Wenger is also reportedly expressing interest in Bakayoko, however, with a move to the England’s top flight a real possibility. With Francis Coquelin has been often criticised due to unconvincing performances this season and the summer signing Granit Xhaka failed to make an impact at Emirates the Gunners are in need of a quality central midfielder and the Frenchman is an impressive option for Wenger’s man.

The sources in France have suggested that he will only be allowed to leave for a huge fee of €60million. Though Antonio Conte’s man are confident of a deal for Monaco midfielder, they would revert their attention to AS Roma star Radja Nainggolan should they miss out.

Whether anyone is prepared to pay that amount remains to be seen, but Bakayoko’s age of just 22 means he has every chance of becoming one of the world’s best.
