Arsenal Prepare Surprise Move For Man City Reject

The North London rivals are both being linked with a possible summer move for Eibar centre-back Florian Lejeune, with the 25-year-old enjoying an impressive season in Spain.

According to the Daily Mirror, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are both in the chase for the French defender, who can also be dispatched in midfield.

Lejeune was transferred to Manchester City in 2015 from Girona, where he finished the campaign with 40 appearances and five goals, but immediately loaned back to Spanis club for one year.

The former France U20 international is said to have a €10million (£8.7m) release clause that promises to make him very affordable to any potential suitor.

And the report suggests that the Gunners have scouted Lejeune several times this season, while Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is looking to beef up his squad with another defender.

This season, Eibar sit in 8th place with only 11 games left to play and are closer to a European berth than they are to the relegation zone. Ex-Man City man, who is noted for his aerial strength and sound reading of the game, has been a huge part of that.

In Spanish top flight, he has won 28 tackles with a success rate of 50%, has made 64 interceptions, 139 clearances and 14 blocks.
